Edmonton, Alberta (May 26, 2017)—The Stream-Flo Group of Companies (Stream-Flo Industries Ltd. and Master Flo Valve Inc.) is pleased to announce that it has donated four pairs of wellheads with choke valves to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s (NAIT’s) Petroleum Engineering Technology program.

The Stream-Flo wellheads with flowing top sections and Master Flo choke valves off the wing valves are part of gas metering skids that are used by Petroleum Engineering Technology students to learn on the same oilfield equipment they will encounter on the job.

“The Stream-Flo wellhead and choke donation allows our students to get hands-on experience operating wellheads and choke wells they would encounter in a producing gas field,” says Bruce Reinders, chair of NAIT’s Petroleum Engineering Technology program. “We have incorporated the Stream-Flo donation into a gas metering and separating skid which creates an extremely realistic learning environment for the students.”

Community support is deeply ingrained in the culture at the Stream-Flo Group of Companies, and is in its Guiding Principles. Its ongoing support of NAIT includes endowment funds for two annual scholarships in each of the Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma and CNC Machinist Certificate programs, as well as a donation from founder Duncan and wife Verda McNeill of close to $1 million for NAIT’s Centre for Information and Communications Technology.

“Graduates of NAIT’s Petroleum Engineering Technology program, as well as other NAIT programs, have the practical knowledge they need to enter the industry and contribute on the job right away,” says Mark McNeill, President of the Stream-Flo Group of Companies. “We’re proud to support that real-world learning with the donation of these wellheads and choke valves, as well as through our scholarships. Investing in NAIT and its students is critical to ensuring the Canadian oil and gas industry has the skilled, safety-conscious workforce it needs to continue leading the world in innovation and sustainable energy production.”

In addition to NAIT, the company and employees support a wide range of local organizations in the communities in which it operates. Its community giving includes donations to 17 food banks in Canadian and U.S. communities in which it operates in December 2016 and 18 food banks in December 2015. In June 2016, employees of the Stream-Flo Group of Companies donated a total of $18,827.00 to the Wood Buffalo Food Bank in Fort McMurray and the American Red Cross Fort McMurray Canada Disaster Relief fund. Together with matching funds from the McNeill family, the total amount donated was $37,854.00. In 2015, the company donated $56,394.00 to the PTSD Foundation of America’s Camp Hope in Houston. In 2014, the company donated $3 for every dollar raised by employees to purchase a total of $258,730.00 worth of medical equipment for Edmonton’s Stollery Children’s Hospital.
